Standardizing Recovery Descriptions
Our method for defining the ‘recovery description nomenclature’ provides a systematic approach to assigning gas/fluid descriptions, standardizing the process across the company/testers. Utilizing the PORTAL system, gas/fluid descriptions are automatically generated based on recovery breakdowns (percentages) to create consistent results no matter the tester or the well. The system creates various cuts of gas/fluid from ‘slightly cut’ to ‘heavy cut’ with the smallest percentage (product) listed first and the final and largest percentage simply listed as the gas/fluid described (G, O, W, M). The PORTAL uses the following criteria when assigning the standardized recovery descriptions:

- Less than 1% show TRACE ( )
-
1% to 19% shows SL( )C - Slightly ____ Cut
-
20% to 29% shows ( )C - ______ Cut
-
Greater than 30% shows H( )C - Heavy _____ Cut
* ( ) indicates G for gas, O for oil, W for water, and M for mud
By using this method to generate the description(s) of the recovery, Diamond Testing provides a clear and repeatable process for our customers drill stem test recovery descriptions; allowing for consistent recovery descriptions for future comparative analysis.
